Creating a new page

There are several ways to start a new page on the CSUMB Data Glossary.

Using the search box

If you search for a page that does not yet exist (using the search box in the upper right header navigation of the page), then you will be provided with a link to create the new page at the top of the search results that are returned.

You simply click the link, which will appear red, like as in the example below using "New Term" as an example.

This will take you to the "Creating [title of whatever you have specified as the title]" page where you can add content and then Save page.

You can also click Save page to create a blank page without adding any content. The system will ask you if you are sure you want to create a blank page. Click Save page a second time to create a blank page to be populated with content at a later time.

Using the URL

You can also use the address bar of your browser and the CSUMB Data Glossary URL for creating a new page.

The URL to an article of the wiki is usually something like this:

If you replace ARTICLE with the name of the page you wish to create, you will be taken to a blank page which indicates that no article of that name exists yet.

To create a page with this name, click the "Create" page tab at the top of the page or the "create this page" link on the page.

Using internal links from another page

If you are editing another page and want to link to a page that does not yet exist, you use the regular process for adding internal links to a page.

Any text that you link that does not yet have an internal page will appear with a red link as in the example illustrated above in the search results.

Clicking on the red link will take you to the "Creating [title of whatever you have specified as the title]" page where you can add content and then Save page.

You can also click Save page to create a blank page without adding any content. The system will ask you if you are sure you want to create a blank page. Click Save page a second time to create a blank page to be populated with content at a later time.
